Every drink can recycled cuts the carbon footprint of the next one made, and every can recycled could be back on sale as a new can in just 60 days – so it’s a no-brainer, we should be recycling more cans!
It’s great news that many festival organisers think so too. In 2010 we got involved with V Festival and the Isle of Wight Festival, getting music lovers to take part in our fun penalty shootout football game. Everyone loved what we were doing, so in 2011 we took on the festival scene in a major way, introducing new promotional activities and trying different ways of rewarding recyclers for their behaviour. We experienced a diverse range of events, crowds, music (and weather!). But with at least 1 million drinks cans collected it was all very worthwhile.
Plans are now well underway for Summer 2012.
With major national celebrations and global sporting events taking place at home and abroad from June to September Every Can Counts will be working hard to spread the recycling word, and encouraging everyone, from armchair spectators to flag waving supporters to make their cans count.
