As part of the Every Can Counts drinks can recycling activity at the Isle of Wight Festival we took along our new inflatable football goal. Bright green and standing 5m high it was hard to miss. And for many it was hard to resist having a shot at our ‘Can you kick it?’ challenge.
For the chance to win tickets to next year’s event all they had to do was score four goals, from four balls. Easy you might think. Well, add to this that the goals only counted when they hit each of four targets, and that most of them were wearing festival footwear, i.e. wellies or flip flops, and were (how shall we say it) in the Festival spirit, the challenge became a little more serious.
Many tried and failed, some nearly made it and got a beach ball or can cooler for their efforts – but only Four people managed to hit the target every time. These lucky four were photographed and their enthusiastic celebrations can be viewed on our Facebook page. To help us decide who gets the prize we need you to check out the pictures and choose which you think is the best by clicking ‘like’ – the one with the most ‘like’s’ at 5pm on Friday will be the winner.
So, who will it be who gets to camp in the mud at next year’s Festival? Tom, Alan, Spencer, or David? It’s down to you so make your vote count, as well as your cans!
3.5 tonnes, or over 250,000 empty cans, were collected for recycling during the three days of the Festival, making a significant contribution both to local charity Haylands Farm and to reducing the carbon footprint of the event.
