Jaguar Land Rover initially introduced Every Can Counts at the Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon in June 2010, followed by a rollout at its Gaydon and Whitley Engineering sites. Existing recycling bins were re-branded using our free stickers, and can crushers were installed in the main canteen and rest areas, and the visitor restaurant at the Heritage Motor Centre.
The programme is promoted regularly in company newsletters and staff emails, and Every Can Counts posters feature prominently on company noticeboards and at recycling points. JaguarLandRover has a team of environmental advocates who are responsible for sustainability initiatives in their section or department. They regularly receive bulletins from the Facilities Team with latest news and results which they communicate and share with colleagues.
Recycling drinks cans compliments Jaguar Land Rover’s involvement in the Technology Strategy Board funded REALCAR research project which focuses on maximising recovery of metals from the waste stream for use in manufacturing. This means that in the future drinks cans recycled by a visitor to the Motor Heritage Museum or a member of staff at either of the Gaydon and Whitley Engineering sites could be recycled and used in the production of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles
