Latitude Festival

Latitude prides itself on its strong green credentials, and rightly so – and we’re thrilled that this year we made a contribution too.

At Latitude we worked with social enterprise Festival Green, whose team of Green Messengers worked hard to keep the site clean, and encourage festival goers to recycle as much as possible.

The organisers, Festival Republic, demonstrated their commitment to sustainability throughout the festival – they even donated 10 tickets to Latitude 2012 to give away as incentives for recycling – thanks guys!
Everyone who brought us a whole bag of cans to the recycle exchange points located across the site were given a sequentially coded wristband and directed to the Every Can Counts website in order to enter their code and find out if they were a lucky winner.

We also ran our famous football goal competition, challenging festival goers to have a go for a chance to win prizes. All they had to do was recycle a can or two and score four out of four! Congratulations to Molly and Tom who won a pair of tickets each to Latitude 2012.

We had a great weekend, despite the torrential rain which at times seemed never ending – it was certainly the wettest weekend of our summer events programme! When forced to retreat into our soggy tent we kept busy creating our own versions of can craft, creating wonderful yet amateur looking bumble bees, peacocks and even elephants from the cans collected.
