National recognition for Bristol hotel’s recycling efforts

The Bristol hotel has been has been recognised for demonstrating excellence and commitment to recycling by being awarded a Green Can Award, in partnership with recycling programme provider Every Can Counts.

The recycling champions, based on Prince Street, Bristol, impressed judges through the hotel’s use of communication materials and highly visible recycling points around the building.

The business also worked hard to get its staff and guests involved with the scheme; by investing in training events for colleagues and ‘green activity sheets’ for guests. As a result, general waste has decreased and recycling material has increased significantly on a weekly basis.

Shelby King, Human Resource Manager and Green Coordinator at The Bristol, said: “By working with Every Can Counts we have made a positive and successful effort to reduce our hotel’s general waste, all whilst showing staff and guests in a fun and informative way the importance of responsible waste disposal. We are delighted with the results and feel spurned on by receiving this national recycling award to continue our work.”

Ruth Meeke, Programme Manager for Every Can Counts, said: “The Bristol went above and beyond to win this national recycling award and we are thrilled to have been able to support them in the process. We hope that more businesses in the Bristol area will do the same and take advantage of the free to use Every Can Counts programme and get started.”
